Ankle Arthroplasty in 2014: What are the options?
As another ankle prosthesis is decommissioned from the UK market, the surgical community is once again prompted to reassess their options when it comes to performing total ankle replacements.
Fortunately, ankle prosthesis with high survivability and industry accreditation do exist. In this seminal meeting, the first of its kind at Oxford University's Medical Teaching Faculty, you will be given the chance to review five of the industry's leading ankle replacements. Each prosthesis' benefits and correct implementation shall be exhibited in cadaveric demonstrations that seek to fully compound your understanding of the options available.
A distinguished faculty has been invited to facilitate the discussions during the event and will seek to provoke debate on key questions, such as:
Should registers be used more extensively?
Could 'Beyond Compliance' stifle innovation and progress?
What are the current philosophies, techniques and options available to the foot and ankle surgical community when articulating treatment of tibial-talar joint disease?
What is the best way to share 'best' practice?
To provide stimulating discussion and debate by addressing some of the 'Key Questions' with an opportunity to exchange views and techniques with colleagues on the current status of total ankle replacement.
This meeting is targeted at senior grade foot and ankle surgeons who have used or are considering Total Ankle Replacement.
Please accept that to ensure lively debate and to facilitate cadaveric sessions numbers for this course will be limited.
